St. John’s College and High School

St. John's College and High School in Belize City, Belize

The Jesuits have operated St. John’s College and High School in Belize City for more than 100 years. The high school has an academically rigorous program and has educated many of the male leaders of the nation.

Several initiatives are underway to improve the educational infrastructure
in Belize, including:

1.  Saint Louis University is providing two full-tuition fellowships per year to educators seeking graduate degrees in serious need in Belize (e.g., special education, early-childhood education, educational leadership, etc.).

2.  Application is being made to the USAID’s ASHA (American Schools and Hospitals Abroad) program for funding to improve the technology capacity of St. John’s so that online courses from Saint Louis University can be offered in Belize. This effort may also benefit other Jesuit ministries in the southern section of Belize.
